GAP insurance,anyone made a claim ?

Featured Replies

Hi,just would like to know if anyone has hade a claim on GAP insurance,i think it is often mis sold.

Not ever had to thankfully but I've just bought a policy from ALA (via site sponsor link), seems like a no-brainer to me, particularly if you have a vehicle on finance like me with a small deposit, high chance of a shortfall if it were to be written off in the first couple of years.

Why risk a short fall and no deposit for a replacement? For just over £100 for 2 years 'return to invoice price' cover, seems damn good value to me.

gap insurance is a rip off , evans halshaw Durham had my life , gave me the hard sell . 3 so called advisors like a pack of wolves .

when i tried to claim because the engine in my used 08 fabia 1.4 tdi estate , self destructed because of the counterballance and oil pump drive chain snapped , ( yes EVANS HALSHAW its an engine  interlal componet ) not a BLEEDIN cambelt you absolute arseholes .

evans halshaw warranty is also not worth the paper its written on . passed me from pillar to post . cost me a lot of money having my vehicle towed here and there , then blamed the garage who fitted the cambelt which was 8 weeks old and still timed up correctly  . i checked before the car went to them .

i eventually forked out for a new engine and recon turbo myself and fitted it myself .

work in progress to get my money back ....

Did you have GAP insurance, or a Warranty on a Used Car or what are you talking about?

The name says it all :D

It does, but the 'I tried to claim when because the engine self destructed' made me wonder.

Obviously i should not have.  Must remember if i ever have engine failure to use GAP cover to claim.
