Twindoor boot spring/damping failure

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Been a long time since I've been around these parts as I've been enjoying a pretty much trouble free time with my Superb.  ...Until this weekend.

The boot opening seems to have failed. The key fob button still unlocks the boot but there is no strength in whatever lifts the boot lid. Also once its been opened manually you have to be really careful to avoid the boot lid slamming shut. There also appears to be some oil leaking from the boot lid hinge plastic cover on the right hand side. It's just been in for a service but I'd be surprised if there has been any maintenance gone on with the boot lids so I guess it's probably just a coincidence.

The full hatch opening works as normal.

Does anyone know how that boot opening mechanism works and what is likely to have gone wrong here?  ...and how much its likely to cost to get fixed??

Cheers

David
