Idle Speed

Featured Replies

A slight odd one this. It's happened once before but stopped so didn't think too much of it but had the same yesterday.

When coming to a stop (in D), the idle speed remained around 1500rpm until the brake pedal was released when it dropped to the usual below-1000rpm. If I didn't release the brake pedal it remained high. Once in N or P the idle speed reverted back to normal.

A faulty sensor? Any ideas? It's going in for a service soon and is under (extended) warranty so the perfect time to mention it.

Thanks

Bump.

This happened again and was accompanied by the revs climbing to 2000rpm of their own accord and falling. Seems to happen when the air temperature is higher too.

Anyone experienced similar?

P.S. The servicing dealer last year couldn't find any faults.

When my car was idling wrong is was the mass air flow sensor being faulty but my car was way worse would idle really poorly and keep dropping power when trying to gun it

I lifted the accelerator with my toe. That returned my tick over to normal. Then I sprayed some WD40 in the pedals pivot. It took a day to work in but now tick over is normal again.
