Columbus dash display error

Featured Replies

Hi

After some help on here a few weeks ago about a terminal failure of my Columbus unit, I managed to get a refurb unit delivered which arrived today.

Have fitted it in and all working except one feature - the link which gives me a display on the driver info screen.

The new unit I have had is the one which is from a newer model (mines an 09, where it still said Traffic, the new one just says TMC) but otherwise all the same.

How do I re-activate this feature?

Do you have VCDS? The unit will need coding to correctly communicate with the car

I do not, no.

I'm guessing that's the VW diagnostic software tool thing.

What are my best options - find a local mate with it, or pop to skoda garage and get them to do it?

Find someone local to do it. Whereabouts are you?

Horsham in West Sussex

Cheers :)

Miles away from me I'm afraid. If you take a look on the VCDS users maps you'll find someone close to you who might be up for doing it..

Thanks, that's very helpful. Found a couple of local users but just got to check they are "online" as some don't appear to have been around for a few months!

Cheers

Shaker maker, I may be able to help. Only down in Littlehampton so not too far. I have full VCDS and recently added a Columbus to our Fabia.

Ok cool thanks -

The car already had Columbus before but it failed so this is a refurbished second hand unit I've bought and everything else works apart from this little feature

If you still have the old Columbus, put it back in the car and scan with VCDS to pull the original coding from it, then put the new Columbus back in and use VCDS to apply that coding. Job sorted.

You could pop down in the morning if you want and we could sort out.

PM me
