Fabia II - 1.8t ?

Featured Replies

I was wondering if is it possible to swap 1.8t engine to Fabia mkII, I know there are a lot of projects with 1.8t and Fabia mkI but what about Fabia II? I don't know that much about Skoda's and engine swap solutions, and if is it possible what gearbox(maybe from polo gti?) and other main parts could be used?

Anything is possible.

Up until 2010 the MK1 and MK2 were just about the same.

could just grab a 1.8tsi and use the engine mounts from the facelifted polo gti wich comes standart with the 1.8tsi . or get a used 2.0tsi and use the polo wrc mounts

Edit: talking ball ox.

The mounting isn't so much the issue, it's the level of CAN communication and wiring used on the later engines. Polo GTi with 1.8TSi is MK3 Fabia platform too.

The mk4 ibiza cupra and fr had the 20vt engine in until about 2006, it might be worth a look at donor parts from that platform?

Yeah, been done a few times now into a MK1. MK2 wouldn't be too much different other than the lack of the loom connection point on the bulkhead.

There is a member here from Bulgaria who has done it. But I can't find the topic. Take a look to the Fabia MK2 section.
