rear drum cylinder part no.?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Just checked my rear pas. side drum to find the cylinder has leaked everywhere and the shoes slick with (i assume) brake fluid and dirt. I've had a look on eBay but there are several different part numbers, does anyone know which one I should go for by any chance??

Mine is a 51 Reg Manual 1.9tdi Estate, Ambiente version

thanks a bunch if anyone knows this

P.S also, is there any point in spending a bit more on mintex shoes or should I just go for bog standard?

Do you have a data sticker in the service book, or in the boot? There are two types (different cylinder diameters) shown which depend on whether your rear brake PR code is 1KN or 1KG, I suspect the latter, but you need to check unless someone has better info than me.

Item 14, or (14).

ah, thanks! I'll have a look tomorrow :) also, when I was braying the brake drum with a 2lb hammer to get it apart, a grey thing fell out (out of both drums actually) it looked like a sort of weight, it was maybe 3 inches long, slightly curved, about half an inch thick.

anyone got an idea what it is?

3inches long and slightly curved looked like a weight sounds like the braking material off the shoe??

I got pagids for mine when being done, and they are perfect for normal and occasional "brisk" road driving
