Nice easy one, as it was never answered 100% - Anyone kno if a regular cheapo PCI graphics card will still be compatible with a PCI-Express motherboard, please? I've no need for tarty graphics with my new system so want to use a cheap card, until I ever sell it when I'll stick a

It certainly should be -- most PCI Express boards have standard PCI slots -- so you should have no problems using a PCI card.

You would only have a problem if you had an AGP card - as they are definately not compatible,.

PCI-express slots are a different standard to PCI (and PCI-X as well) but most PCI-express boards will have a couple of older PCI slots for backwards compatibility so any old graphics card should work fine

I'd just get a cheap PCIe card or a motherboard with graphics in the chipset if you don't care for much fast.

The reason is that you might find you want to use your PCI slot for something more useful and you should be able to get a PCIe card for about

This isn't an issue any more thankfully. Turns out my new MOBO had onboard graphics. I didn't know this until I opened the box. :rofl:
