Should I modify?

Hello,

I would like to purchase a rear spoiler for my Octavia at some point. I was wondering if spoilers from other cars would also fit? Vw? Audi? Seat? Many thanks for looking

Hi you can fit a vrs rear boot spoiler or an octavia sport has a flat type boot spoiler, thats the only standard options you have, there is a few companies like milotec who make add on spoliers and trims specificly for the octavia, as for the other vag brands something from an A4 saloon may fit or golf saloon , personally i would go safe and fit a standard part .

Thank you, that's a big help. I do want to get hold of a vrs one really.

Modifying cars is a minefield especially when it comes to selling the car.

Would I buy an Octavia with a genuine vrs spoiler fitted.... probably.

Would I buy an Octavia where someone has bodged on a spoiler from another car....no way.

Do the job right or not at all.

All the octavias around my way were either vrs or had vrs spoilers on them. So to be diffrent i got a mk1 spoiler and fitted that it is an exact fit and looks slightly diffrent from every other octavia.

Thank you all for your replies. It's the only modification I tend do do with my cars as I love the profile with a small spoiler. Mike your point about the struts is something I had not thought of. I would not fit an aftermarket product it's not my style :-)

Also, Mike i have no idea how to add you as a friend or message you?! The car is running like an absolute peach and has been polished yesterday. Only problem with it is I can't get near it my wife loves it too much haha. Thank you wilson323f knowing that the mk1 fits is interesting.

Hope you are enjoying the car -- it would look really nice with a proper, genuine Octavia VRS spoiler fitted. But be aware that you will probably have to change the gas struts to support the extra weight of an already very heavy tailgate. If you do change the struts, make sure you get VRS struts that can cope with the extra.

It's not something I'd thought much about (only ever having the vRS), but I can confirm the tailgate seems quite heavy.
