Not been on the site for a while and today I've agreed to trade in my 14 plate Spaceback SE TSI for a 15 plate Toledo I-Tech TDI, which will leave me without a Skoda for the first time since 2009.

 

Having changed jobs I'm now doing more miles and the up and down dale route to work is not very conjunctive to petrol economy.

 

 

Had hoped to stay with the Skoda but the Seat dealer was offering considerably more for our Spaceback than the Skoda dealer and those we buy any car people. On top of this is the better standard spec with the Seat badge.

 

 

Will be very sad to see the distinctive green machine go and I'll miss the glass roof but must move on.

Good call.

I-tech is nice. Probably the best interior in the whole Rapedo range for me. Much bigger boot than the SB too.

Indeed - big boot and higher equipment spec. That and moving to a diesel (which will clearly be more compatible with your new commute) makes a lot of sense.

Gosh I thought Skoda lovers would never be brand snobs. lol.

Picked up the Toledo first thing this morning on route to work.

 

Still getting used to the difference between Spaceback TSI and Notchback TDI, like a heavier clutch and also reminded of things discussed previously on the forum, such as the reflection of the chrome vent surrounds on the side windows (not fitted on our Spacebak SE) and the reduced space for resting your left foot on diesel models.

 

Early days but chuffed so far, as I'm getting 20 mpg more on the average consumption reading over the TSI and I like some of the Seat touches like the red speedo needles and the 'blade' door handles rather than the 'boomerang' style in the Skoda.

^^^Now you mentioned it, no I never noticed the reflection of the vents.

67Igor1 any chance you could say how you changed the chrome vent trims for black. Were the parts easily available and I was worried about damaging the dash.

I changed for black myself...
