Remap or NO Remap!?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am thinking of having the car remapped but what is the best out there ;

Custom Code / AMD One Click etc ??

Anyone experienced problems with a remap e.g. slipping clutch etc??

Grateful for any advice.

There are more threads on this than on a Saville Row suit. Have a search

Don't be so negative. ;)

AmD 'One- Click' is GOOD ( and Stealth ).

No clutch problems in over 100 miles. :orb_clap:

John.

Jabbasport remap - no slipping clutch. ;) Might be due to having a better one fitted.

All remaps nowadays are as good as the other - Often its simply down to who is nearest to you. (i.e Chesterfield/Peterborough, etc)

Not wanting to sound like a broken record but if you do a search there have been some really good threads with lots of info on this subject

Positive comments too !! ;)

Just my 2ps but I'd go with Celtictuning at the mo - cheaper than most and done at your door with very similar outputs

That is the problem with posting up something like this.

1 will say I have this remap and it is good.

Well I have that remap and mine is better.

The best thing to do is to do a search and see what you can get.

Look in to all as there may be one that will suit you better.

Yes I will tell you that Custom-Code is better as we are an agent for them.

www.custom-code is the web site.

But by the looks you have already included them.

Check out what you can get and if I can help just PM me or call me on 01246 455004

Thank you

Have fun in your search

Sarah

My 2p worth Custom Code is the current leader, maybe not in flashy power outputs but in real driving conditions (look at the graphs and how straight they are in comparison with other tuners).

But my Jabba map has been on for 25k miles now, never let me down and is blisteringly quick for what it is.

Read the above posts, do some searches. Look at INDIPENDANT rolling road results and make your mind up from there.

Also bear in mind certain remaps are "custom" i.e. tailored for any other modifications where as some are "generic" i.e. based on someone's car i.e. AMD One Click IIRC is based on Xaviers car (Ross Clarke's old car) before any mods. So if you opt for that you are essentially getting the same ECU as his vRS and not your own, how much difference this makes is negligable.

Also bear in mind some are removable (One Click - literally, STAR PERFORMANCE Dual system, REVO), some aren't (JabbaSport, Celtic tuning etc). Both FLASH the ECU via the ODBII port with the new code so no need to physically tamper with the ECU, but Jabba and others cannot be removed (well not easily anyway)

Ah well, for my 5 cents Jabba, BUT to be honest there are 2 or 3 good firms around

as others have said do a search through the site. How close they are to you is one thing to consider

As with buying most things "check the small print on the box" BHP is great but research torque figures, its torque that kills clutches not bhp, also look at the mpg figures, some apear to give better fuel consumption than others, a quick fix to more power is throw more fuel in . Look at the curves on the map, a smootrh curve gives generally a more driveable car

If you have specific requirements pay the extra for a custom map, our Diesel Octy is set up to give really good economy until your past somewhere around half throttle, then it goes a tadge mental. We can still get over 50 mpg average & on a recent thrash across France 4 up + Skiing Gear we averaged 79mph for 550 miles, ran the cruise at 110 & still got 37 mpg.

The best thing, research it for a few weeks, chat to a few tuners & then you will get a feel for what suits you. Most are removable if you want but normally you only get to consider that when you sell the car.

Lastly YOU MUST tell your insurance company, most are reosnable about it, if you dont you might well not be insured. a third party claim for many tens of thousands could ruin your life for ever
