Very slow warranty process. Chrome strip loose.

Featured Replies

Hello All,

The top of the chrome strip driver's side rear somehow began to make contact with driver's door . The strip came loose each time I opened the driver door.

Called the dealer on 24/06 and warranty person told me that there was an alert (she used some acronym) out from Skoda concerning that problem.

I was also informed that there was some work to be done on a pipe for driver's side windscreen washer.

The dealer would call me when the part arrived.

Called them back on 15/07 part on back order.

Heard nothing since.

Is the warranty process always this slow? As it happens the problem of the strip getting caught has gone away for the moment (hot for Ireland weather related perhaps)

If there is a modified part then that process can be months so don't hold your breath.

I had the same chrome strip problem back in May when it hadn't been flagged by Skoda.

The rubber/chrome strips were replaced on both doors. The windscreen washer issue was resolved at the same time (which was flagged by Skoda).

As the rubber/chrome issue wasn't flagged at the time, the workshop didn't know the exact cause/cure beforehand (realign seals, replace seals, or rehang door?) so the parts weren't ordered until the car went in.

After assessing the problem the dealership contacted Skoda who told them to replace both door seals/strips. Parts were ordered and arrived the next day.

At the time of booking the car into the workshop the availability of a courtesy car meant a two week delay. In the meantime a single drop of superglue stopped the strip from popping out.

Seems I have the start of this issue on mine too. Gap at top corner of drivers door and rear passenger door has closed up and the rubbers now rub together making the door slightly hesitant to open. This hasn't caused any lifting of the bright work yet, but certainly not how it was when I first had the car back in late December.

Strangely I noticed mine was missing yesterday (drivers rear) presumably lying next to the M3.

Think my CD player has stopped working as well

I have this on my car too, driver door is noticeably sticking due to the strip.

Is there a way of obtaining Škoda's reference for these problems (chrome strip, widescreen washer, etc.) to make it easier to highlight the issues when we raise them?

If I were you I would be inclined to get it back to the dealer as soon as convenient and save yourself any imminent aggravation.

I'd noticed the driver's rubber door seal was barely making contact with the rear passenger door rubber seal and considered it a minor issue that could wait until the first service. That is until the chrome strip popped out. Once it pops out it will then pop out every time you open the door unless you hold a finger against it, which is okay when getting in but an impossible feat to accomplish when getting out! Within a couple of days the trim would occasionally pop out whilst driving along, which is when I resorted to using superglue as I didn't want the whole thing to drop out on the move, as seems to have happened to GuzziDibble.

I have this issue too - parts on back-order and have been for 4 weeks now!

And another one here too. Another phone call to the Dealer then!

Same here - awaiting parts to be delivered
