fault lights when theres no fault......

Featured Replies

got a couple of these intermittently.

firstly, and almost constantly is a 'front right parking light bulb not working' message on startup and the orange warning light icon staying on.  i know the bulb is working as the light goes off from time to time and then the bulb works.

secondly, and this is rarer, but the brake fault comes up, the orange icon of brake shoes is it?  again i know theres no fault as ive had them checked at a recent MOT, plus most of the time theres no fault light.

are these an easy fix (wiggle a bit of wiring somewhere?) or will i just have to live with them?

thanks a lot

I have both these faults, not on Skodas but on other cars.

My sidelight fault was either corroded contact or an intermittent bulb but the fault went when I cleaned up the bulb carrier and put in a new bulb.

My intermittent brake warning light was due to the pad thickness wire rubbing on a sharp metal edge which took the wire to ground. However, I believe the Octy works the opposite way round and is looking for an open circuit to set off the warning. I would look at the pad warning wire from the front left brake pads for a poor connection in the loom.

thanks a lot mate.  im a total auto novice, are both these things easy to access?

Brake ware sensor sometimes gets damaged early due to rust build up on disc so could be that or bad conection in sensor plug. Bulb warning could be a dodgy conector or bulb. I would just change the bulb to eliminate it for what they cost
