Squeaking front wheel

Featured Replies

Hi

My VRS has developed a anoying squeaking noise when turning left or going over a rough surface. You can only here it with the window down. I have had the wheels off and brakes apart looking for a stone stuck behind the back plate to no avail.

When going over a rough surface Ie country roads at 20-30 mph with the wheels straight it speaks.

When turning left at slow speeds at 10mph + it squeaks. Sounds like you have back plate touching the disc.

Can't find any play in the wheel bearings either.

Ideas anyone.

15 plate diesel vrs 15,000 miles.

Bad right wheel bearing is my guess. When you are turning left, you are putting an extra load on to the right wheel.

I don't think it's a bearing. 10mph is usually to slow to hear and bearings usually make a rumbling or moaning sound.

Have you checked the runout on the discs? They could be very slightly warped.

Has similar a while back, turned out to be a piece of trapped road debris.

Yeap trapped between the disc and pad would be my guess, had it before, it'll wreak both pad and disc if left.

Hi

Had the pads out on all wheels and checked behind tin covers. Cleaned the grooves in the pads checked the sliders all ok.

I used to get the stones a lot on my yeti.

I have had the noise for 4 / 5 months. Will have to take it into dealer for a laugh I suppose when I get back from Cornwall.

Or take the callipers off just to make sure.
