Running in

Featured Replies

Hey guys

Received my vRS a few days ago and really pleased with it (apart from buyers remorse from not speccing canton and park assist).

Any suggestions on what I should do/not do with regard to running the engine in, or is that not something that's done these days?

Use the full rev range in 3rd and 4th every now and again. Don't think you need to drive like a baby and keep it off boost - you don't

Just observe some mechanical sympathy in lower gears for the first 1000miles then drive it how you like.

Also be progressive with braking and allow them to bed in gently

Always make sure engine is up to temp before any hooning - that goes for always

Just drive it like you normally would.

No need to do anything special, drive a certain way or avoid certain conditions.

If you read the handbook it explains....something like no full braking or accellaration for the first 1000 miles (unless you have to for safety reasons), just allows everything to settle in, tyres, brakes, engine. Dont labour the engine and when its warm use all the revs to gentle loosen it up.

Worth also checking the tyre pressures, lights and checking the oil and coolant weekly to check it isnt losing any, for the first few weeks.

I also like to check the jack, spare wheel and check the tightness of the wheel bolts...but maybe thats just me, being too cautious.

This has already been coverd on here. As glosrich says - it's in the handbook.
