Race blue paint

Recommended Posts

I have a mk2 vrs tfsi in race blue but everytime I buy a rattle can or touch up stick the paint is darker than my car. Could this be down to fading or did the paint shade change at some point.

Cheers

I got Halfords to mix up some touch up paint to match my Race Blue car. It was certainly darker than the original on my rear spoiler. That is where the paint chip was that needed touching up. My fault as I caught a scraper on the spoiler. Scrapped Halfords paint and got some direct from Skoda. That did match a lot better. Have touched up a few paint chips on the front of the car and it matches really well. If you got the touch up paint from Skoda, maybe it's just a case of your cars paint fading a little over time.

Skoda dealers sell the the OEM touch up kids on Ebay sometimes for a little discount.

It's still a little darker than original paint. I suspect it's more to do with the thickness. Factory can spray it very fine, different to slopping it on with a little brush.

All of the touch up paint (Island Green) i've bought either Halfords or specialist car paint outlets has been darker, Touch up pens and spray cans, Never managed to get a perfect match.
