Hopefully someone can give me a bit of guidance witha problem i'm having with my radio.

 

I have an '07 Roomster with the Dance CD radio fitted.  recently it started switching itself off but would turn back on again.  Now, however, it doesn't turn on with ignition.  If i press the volume button to turn it on,  the knob illuminates for 1 second and it makes a whirring noise then shuts down.

 

Is it time for a new radio?

As I thought.  Looks like a trip to that well known auction site to find a replacement.

If I wanted to replace the radio with an aftermarket version, what would I need to look for. I believe, after looking around the forums that it would need to support canbus 1.6.

Nothing aftermarket will work on canbus, that's just genuine headunits.

Could I fit a Columbus or bolero without too many problems?

I have an Amundsen (RNS310) fitted, it won't turn off with the ignition, and turns off every 30 mins ... but its brilliant
