Indecision about suspension upgrade

Actually I've dealt with Bilstein UK on a couple of occasions and they've been nothing but exceptional to deal with.

For my previous RS3 Sportback I bought a B12 Pro-Kit in parts that I sourced myself, dampers from from German eBay and springs in the UK (worked out a good bit cheaper that way).    Somehow, when built up, the front shocks were too long for the Eibach springs that were listed for my car so the springs were loose in the cups with the top mount fitted, one call to Bilstein UK and they had a courier collect them, and my springs, top mounts, bearings and so on, stripped the shocks, shortend the shaft, rebuilt with my springs and bits and had them back to me 2 days later at no cost.

Considering I never even bought the shocks in this country, and the springs were bougth seperately here in the UK I think that's great service.

Check the springs first against the part numbers I've posted above, report back and try not too worry, you wil get it sorted one way or the other.

;)

Thanks. Well I've still got the OEM springs in the box so I'm pretty sure the Eibachs went on.  I've the invoice somewhere too, so I'll try and get the codes off the shocks tonight.

Hi all, just a quick update and apologies for the delay.   Bilstein have confirmed to me verbally that they will give a discount to Briskoda which will work out cheaper than the aforementioned price

Front right is the correct part number according to your post, Muzza80. Checking rear now...

EDIT: Rear appears to be OK.  Only took the front driver's wheel off as my back can't seem to take more than one wheel off. Those alloys are just too damn heavy!

The gap between the arch and the top of the wheel is about 5cm, or 3 fingers ha.

I'm stumped then to be honest mate, I suppose it's possible that Eibach have somehow messed up and marked the wrong springs with the wrong part numbers?

If it was me I'd wait a couple of weeks for the fabled "settling" and if there's not a marked improvement I'd be on to Regal next (they're good guys at Regal, again dealt with them personally loads), get some images of other MK2 Octavia's with the Pro-Kit springs fitted (I've quite a few if you need them) and some pictures of yours and ask them to take it up with Eibach.

I certianly wont be ordering the same kit now based on this, I might just go for the dampers and a set of PI or H&R springs unless you can get to the bottom of it.

Let us know how you get on?

Will do mate, thanks.  I'm assuming a measured gap of ~5cm is too much? It has dropped since OEM mind, so maybe there is something else at bay with my car that could be affecting ride height?

Did the other car have spacers on?

I think a lot of it is also to do with angles and lighting.  I may even have lower profile tyres, with low tread...

Looking at that very rough side by side (literally just a screen shot of the two images side by side), and using the centre cap as a reference, the difference doesn't seem too extreme?

I'll measure the distance from the centre cap vertically up to the wheel arch tonight. Could I ask if someone with the same B12 kit could do the same for comparison please?

The drop with prokit on a vRS is only 15mm from stock.

Did the b12 kit contain b6 or b8 dampers?

Honestly the drop is small, the handling improvement is huge. It will look flat in a few hundred miles.

It should be B8s but I'll have to check.

Sorry mate, thought I'd replied. My bad! They're B8s, according to the part number stamped on them anyway...
