Fabia vRS questions from a new member

Featured Replies

Hi all,

a couple of questions in regards to the Fabia VRS prior to me purchasing one, which i cant seem to find the answers for on here, so im hoping you guys can help me out with them:)

*Does the car come with the 'anti-hijack' feature that my old '02' plate Seat Ibiza TDI Sport used to have whereby once you get to i think it was 5mph or maybe 8mph the doors would automatically lock...such a great feature to have! and i know from personal experience on Toyota's it wasnt set from the factory but following a certain sequence this function could be activated????.

*Again another nice feature from the Ibiza was the 1-touch indicators where you just flick the stalk and it would indicate 3 times only???.

*I've seen several cars for sale on AutoTrader with slightly different tail light lenses....most have been the usual 2 horizontal clear bits for indicator and reverse lights but a couple have had an adjoining clear bit on the outermost part of the lens which makes it like a horseshoe???...are these lens' from a different model? or did it go through a re-design after a certain production date?

*last but not least!...and thanks for sticking with me here;) ....colours!....always a personal thing i know! but id like your views anyway....does anyone know which colour is the most popular?...not from just what you see on the road but from actual sales figures?...and what are your thoughts on the colours that you own?...i was leaning towards Black as it just looks awesome..i know some people say about the 'gets dirty quickly' issue but i keep my cars religiously clean so it wouldnt be an issue.

well thanks in advance and i look forward to hearing what everyone has to say:thumbup:

cheers

Chris

1) is an extra that needs enabling. Can be done with VAG com

2) nope - pretty sure not

3) New style lens came in on 2005 (05 I think) with the "C" shape in them.

4) SILVER! But I like all the other three too. My choice being biased is silver, black, yellow, red. :) (silver is good for muck)

I'm unsure about the activation of the anti-hijack feature, maybe it can be set with VAGCOM, someone else on here would know.

One touch indicators (3 flashes) are a standard feature

The rear lenses which have two "clear perspex bars" can be found on the pre-2005 model year. The "horseshoe" shaped rear lenses were introduced on the 2005 model year.

I have a Black one, which gets dirty, and then I clean it, but not too often :) Fairly limited on colours; Red, Black, Silver and Yellow. The vRS looks good in all colours whichever you eventually choose

You won't be disappointed :D

1-3) They're right

4) Silver, then black, then yellow, then red.

What he said, Except the one touch was available with 04+

I got bryand to do my auto locking at the last meet! (thanx dude) works great, unlocks when you remove the key from ignition!

mines an 05 , so yes to the lane changer indicators,

and so yes to the lights too

and BLACK MAGIC!!!!!!

sharky.

As a previous owner of a mk4 Ibiza 130 Sport too, I can add the following:

Questions 1-3 have been answered, and my preference is black too as it hides the non colour coded plastic trim and also looks mean. Though if buying a new one I would have had silver as I'm not quite as religous at cleaning cars as I was a few years ago, and the black really shows up the scratches. I also had a mk4 Golf 1.8t in black and that was at least as bad for paintwork.

I would also recommend you finding one with the later spec gear ratios as it makes the car much snappier to drive in standard tune.

The vRS suspension is slightly nicer than the mk4 Beezer and the all round visibility is better due to bigger windows at the sides and better shaped mirrors. Obviously the air-con is manual but I actually prefer this set up and I'm not greeted with an icy blast of cold air in the mornings which the climate control often gave me when it was sub zero outside! The Fabia doesn't have the nice pull out drawer under the drivers seat but it does have a cheapo pull down flap under the passenger seat which is meant to house a CD multi changer.

I much prefer the Fabia to my old Beezer for some reason despite them being so similar underneath. The vRS just seems to have that little bit of character and some special unique touches.

wow!..thank you all for your replies!.....so if im looking @ a 2004 registered car or newer i'd get the 1 touch indicators and does that mean it would also have the revised gear ratios as mentioned by BeezerDiesel???

cheers

No Sorry everyone is wrong..............The colour must be yellow

splendid!...thanks very much

My "04" does not have one touch indicators. When did they start coming in? I didn't think any of them had them as I've never heard them of being mentioned on here. :)

Christ you're all so WRONG!

Red is the best colour!

Have you actually tried Jason? Just quickly push the indicator up or nudge it down for a split second and see. It only does the three flash thing if you just nudge it, if you hold it in position for any time it will cancel the action. At least it does on mine and did on my old Beezer.

Well tom_vrs above said late '54' plate and mike_vrs said '04' onwards!..im confused :-S haha.

ive currently got red as my 2nd choice ;-) ...although knowing me thats liable to change!

Chris

If you go into a car park full of German cars you quickly think you have gone colour blind. All black or grey (lets face it silver is actually grey). Dull dull dull!

Get a life. get an actual colour & don't look like all the rest of the sheep!

Red for me.
