Few issues with my VRS

Featured Replies

Hope fellow Skoda members on here could give me advice before I take a trip to local garages who probably get me shafted lol.

When my car is cold, it vibrates on idle, turning on the AC or heater or giving it little gas doesn’t help. It doesn’t always do this and goes away when car is warm but when it’s cold, it happens in 5/10 chance. I can also hear a rattle noise from gearbox area when setting from stationery such in 1st gear or reverse gear. I was told it might be the dogbone bushes but I just want to clarify if anyone here thinks it’s the dogbone bush that’s causing this issue or not?

As my car is remapped and on stock intercooler pipes, the lower boost pipe kept coming off so I put a screw in to stop it from coming off but I’ve noticed whenever I drive on motorways and just give it a good few pokes, the coolant light comes on flashing and water level in expansion tank has dropped so basically the car loses water when on motorways and I don’t know why. Could someone help.

Also the EML is on too. Is there a way to diagnose it using a laptop as I don’t have a code reader?

Last thing, this only just started happening. The drivers side door lock doesn’t unlock or lock with the key fob, I have to use a key to lock or unlock it. All other doors lock and unlock fine with the fob. I think it might be dodgy wiring or failed door lock module but if I were to check the wires, how would I know if the wire is good or bad?

You have head lift, the failed head gasket has started blowing coolant out of the system.

Get a generic cable off ebay to use with VCDS Lite on your laptop for proper code reading.

It sounds like you may have a broken wire in the door loom where it goes through the rubber boot. Try looking first.

Mine was losing coolant after a hard run. Turns out it was the rad . maybe worth checking first?

Thanks for replies, any idea what's causing vibrating on idle and rattle?

Early signs of dmf failure?

Worth checking the dogbone though as well as they are very easy to replace
