Would I be mad to consider a 77k mile 14 plate vRS TDI?

Completely agree you absolutely need to have faith and trust the individual you are buying a car from especially at this price range. Buying a car can be a complete mine field if you don't have your wits about you.

In fairness, selling one privately has become almost impossible (in my humble experience).

Tried to sell the wife's Ford Ka a few years back due to her losing her licence for a year due to epilepsy - a year old, 2,500 miles and we priced it competitively for a quick sale.

Loads of calls but no-one turned up even though they promised they would.

I'm convinced there are thousands of British people out there who get a kick out of trawling AutoTrader ads and making hoax calls feigning interest.

No engine management lights on. But the headlights are switched to on.

so what is the orange light on the tacho side?

Nope, its just a buyers market, so if its something mainstream they can afford to be VERY picky.

But a mint classic and it would be very different with the shoe on the other foot, you could say, okay go and buy one somewhere else mate if you can find one lol.

Never been in that boat unfortunately.

That information is almost entirely useless with the balance of experience of others, you can't build evidence on a survey of one.

Most of these cars are too new for those kind of miles yet so will be some time before those kind of usable stats are in. I will let you know in 25K :)

Just a small contribution, please do not get over-excited

Pulse check, definitely do not appear to be over excited about another turbo fail story.

( heard far too many of this kind of BS in the Fabia 1 forums, the chocolate KKK turbo thats useless to all cars, except mines still on 9 years old and 130k miles climbing owned from new, they must have used toblerone on mine).

Just stating to make a meaningful information to me on basis of failures, best to post a vote topic and get some actual balance.

Forums are always full of posts of doom and failure, no balance of opinions of the cars that never had any failures

IMO: Don't worry about the miles and turbo, particularly if you buy from someone reputable with used warranty.

Point being ? Was it serviced on time ? Driven correctly ? Oil topped up and checked ? Mapped ? Serviced on time ? Even if no to all questions 75 k is still good for a turbo.
