Getting the quartz grey and upgraded to the modus 18" alloys. Was told it will be ready at 2.30 so watching the clock like a little child.

Got metal grey (Quartz Grey in the UK) and Modus 18" alloys myself. Looks great!

  • ^^^^flappy paddles make a huge difference and would alleviate some of the issues you mention. I have jumped out of a 300bhp Golf DSG and yes the 150bhp is sluggish but it amazes me how well it drives

  • I think that sometimes modern auto boxes are a bit like sat navs. You have to learn how to use them otherwise you will still get to where you want but not necessarily by the route you would choose. Th

Phone acting up.

When I told him I'd be looking for lava blue he said that it was being discontinued in the new year and not too order it now for mine. I think he was referring to cars that are ordered in January won't have that option. He told me that there was a poor uptake on it.

Well if you look at the car market in general, there's a low uptake on Skoda... Doesn't mean we didn't want one! :D

My current Mazda is Pacific blue, a colour most people seemed to like and admire. I did think of the non metallic Pacific on the Skoda but was seriously advised against it due to residuals. I did not care for any of the other colours other than the discontinued Rosso so ended up with options of white or black - a taxi or a hearse. I chose the hearse!

IMHO the Skoda colour palette is hopeless.

Just picked up my Quartz grey one yesterday evening.

IMO the Quartz grey doesn't look anything special under showroom lighting. I chose it as my wife and I weren't really taken with any of the colours on offer. It was a case of which one did we dislike the least. Bit of a strange feeling when ordering a new car.

Now I've got it and seeing it under normal lighting, it's really grown on me (keep going outside at work and having another look!) It's got a real green/blue tinge to it in normal sunlight, which I'm pleased about. In the showroom, the quartz grey on display just looked a bit too grey. You couldn't see the greeny blueyness of it.

I'm very pleased that I chose it now and it works well with the beige interior.

mostly i do like how works DSG6 & TSI 220ps,

but really hate noses which can't be solved - Škoda SuperbPhenomenon

Sorry to blend other threads into this one but just a quick question on the lag issue and DSG great box.

My brother tonight landed into me with his 2012 Vauxhall insignia 2ltr 160bhp, manual. He too had been complaining about the all too common issue with lag. So he bought a pedal box and I took it for a spin. Massive difference in the lower gears. Feels like a different car to be honest. Has anyone any longterm experience with a pedal box? Any alternative plug and play devices and are they only for manuals or can the DSG gear box support it.

I'm not saying that I'm going to get one or even want one but just curious about its viability. I was aware of them before but had never driven a car with one in it and I must say that it's impressive

Check out the 280 thread for a report on both a throttle pedal box and a tuning box.

DSG *is* a dual clutch...? The box is actually very quick, what you experienced is more likely throttle lag (and turbo lag on a diesel).

The DSG is very good as rainmaker says. The throttle lag can be ironed out by having the car coded to Audi throttle response. I think the difference is very noticeable on my 190 DSG. Get the flappy paddles at point of order as retro fitting is costing me a fortune.
