Central locking fault Octavia elegance 03

Featured Replies

Hi guys, great site you have here!

I'm hoping someone may be able to help me out on this one. I have read the other threads regarding this subject but mine seems a bit different?

I've recently taken ownership of a 03 Skoda Octavia elegance and love it but the central locking is a nightmare.

i can open the drivers door with the key but this just opens the drivers door and no others,

i can open the boot with the key and this unlocks the drivers door and the boot.

The electric windows don't work unless the boot is used to open the car if i open the drivers door instead none of them work.

i have two key fobs but neither of these work in anyway with regards to the buttons only by manually unlocking is there a way these can be reset to work again?

all the doors can be opened by using the interior handles.

Any help with any of the above would be gratefully received!

Paul

The key fobs are probably suffering from flat batteries (but only change the battery in one until this is confirmed). The other issues all sound like they're related to corrosion in contacts in the connectors on the driver's door wiring loom and need physical investigation.

Thank for the quick reply. The red lights are coming on when I press the key fob buttons would I they have maybe become unsynced with the car? Is there a way of resyncing them?

I'll have to get the door panel off and see what I can find! :)

According to my owner's manual (soft copy), press and hold the unlock button for 30s.

+1 for drivers door connector problem. It's almost standard on the mk1 Octy.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. So I took off the door card and found the connector. No signs of water or corrosion but gave it a spray with some contact cleaner put it all together again and it's made no difference! :( still just boot and drivers door opening from the key lock in the drivers door and still Windows working intermittently. Any other ideas? Thanks again for your time!
