vRS diesel to vRS petrol?

So how much oil have you put in to bring it to that level?

Dip it in the morning when cold if the car is on the flat and tell me where the oil is.

It should be above the Crosshatch area.

Then if you open the drivers door, put the key in, start the engine and stop it right away, then dip it again.  the level then might be just below the top of the cross hatch.

Same level as a hot check.

That is the Jabozuma check.

Nothing yet... dealer said oil was changed before I collected the car last week. I left the car overnight after picking it up and checked the dipstick. It was just above the top of the 'A' line in your diagram.

Have done 450 miles since checking. Last night I checked it again (the car had not been used in 20 hrs) and the oil level was between the two 'A' lines in your diagram. i.e. approx. 3-5mm lower.

It has not yet reached the crosshatch area yet.

The quantity and weight of the oil added for the test is going to be very important then, and that they got it right.

We will only know the weight they gave for the oil they drained at the start, and then at the end of the test.

Looking forward to seeing what their report says.

What test? ... I think you've answered wrong thread? :)

Sorry i thought they were doing a consumption test.

So what are you saying, the dealership had someone top up the oil last week. or it was serviced?

So where was the oil when you collected it. ie Was it overfilled?

EDIT.

OK i have re-read post #24 so know whats what now.

So a CAVE and serviced before you collected it.    Do you know what oil they used to fill it , 5w 30 or 5w 40 ?

How many miles has it done from new?

It was 5W 30 low ash they told me ... it has done 25,000 miles from new. One owner.

If it does turn out to use too much oil maybe best have them change that to 5w 40 FS ( VW 502 00)  that islikely to perform better than the long life 5W 30 (VW 504 00.) & you might find it using less oil.

If the car has never had a software update since new it might well benefit from it.

The thing is it could have been remapped by the previous owner and that would be lost if it did get a software update.
