What are these "sensor" for?

Featured Replies

My 2016 Mk 3 Octavia SE L 2.0Tdi DSG has an auto dimming rear view mirror, ut I don't think my question is to do with this.

What are the sensors, either side of the front, interior, light switch for, in the below photograph, I have three more of these just out of shot at the top of the photograph which I assume are interior monitoring when the car is locked?

Also what is the purpose of the two rectangular grids the left hand one of which is partly open?

The two front ones in your picture are actually low-power LEDs that provide ambient lighting over the centre console when it's dark.

The three at the back are for interior monitoring, but I'm not 100% on that.

No idea about the little grid-like things.

Hope this helps,

Matt

The open grid is for the microphone.

The three at back are interior monitoring. The two in front are ambient lights for centre console. The grill is for the Bluetooth mic and maybe a temp sensor for climate control.

I'd guess as a Microphone too.

I think the climate control sensor is by the Temp controls

Unless I'm not looking in the right place but the 3 in the Picture are for turning the Interior/door opening  lights on and off

The 3 sensors referred to by the OP are not in the pic.

Thanks for the input folks.

When in my car a while ago I saw something like these lights but could not remember where in the car and when.

I didn't know they existed and didn't twig that it must have been at night when I spotted them.

I'm going to check later when it's dark.

I'm loving this voyage of discovery round my new Skoda.

Climate control temp sensor is the little black dot in the centre of the central climate control dial (just below [WINDSCREEN HEAT] and above [sETUP] buttons) :)

Yup! Quite bright LED's. I wonder what's to discover next!
