Boarding Spots for Octavia Scout 2016

Featured Replies

Hello Briskoda lovely people,

Back in June, I picked up Hewie - my new Octavia Scout - in Denim Blue- from one of the dealers in Scotland.  Lovely - had no problems - and I have been very happy so far.

Its crazy mojo, but we have almost covered 10k miles since - and the car is going to go into the dealers for an oil change, and to resolve parcel shelf rattles etc.  I ~know~ the car says it doesn't need an oil change for another 8k miles, but I'm quite anal in that direction - and its a new engine and all - and I want to keep the car in mechanically good nick.

One thing I've noticed is this: I specified that all the options from my old car - (if any of you remember - my previous car - Barnie -  was the MK2 Scout - that had an overly unhealthy habit of visiting the dealer) - had Puddle or Boarding Spots. I specifiied that the new car have all the same options as the old car, but It seems that my new car is without the puddle or boarding spots - and my dealer is being - less than communicative in resolving the issue...I've given them another nudge today to remind them of the issue.

I already have heated seats [winter pack], heated mirrors.....just no lights on the mirrors - which its a problem because its dark where I live!

Anybody retro-fitted puddle or Boarding Spots onto their Scout or other MK3 Octavias?  I would have assuming the wiring loom would already be there for the option.

Many thanks

Max

Double this question. I'm thinking about retrofitting boarding spots also, but still haven't resolved two issues:

1. Cannot find OEM part number for puddle light units? Anybody?

2. Uppon retroffiting door handle "ambient" lights, I discovered my car has an "Min" variant of door controller (p.n. 5Q0 959 393 instead of 5Q0 959 593 which is "Max" variant) and has no Boarding spots pins available. So I'm left only with the option to connect them to "footwell" lights, but it means I need to have footwell lights off when driving (now I have them only dimmed to min.). This would actually be fine, but it's a limitation and I don't like limitations. Any other idea maybe?

Ok I got the VAG part codes now, it's 3T0945291 for left and 3T0945292 for right mirror (for cars after 19.1.2015).

Is that just for the light or does that take into account the part for the light to fit into - the underside part of the mirror.  There is no blanking plate or anything similar

Okay - ignore my rambling - this does look promising.  However, it this is still only the light fitting - I think the under mirror plastic needs changing too.  Then its a case of "hoping" that the puddle light wiring is installed.

I've got the parts manager at Halbeath on the case - so hopefully I will hear from him in the next day or so with a Yah or Nah response.

Under miror plastic can be properly cut out also... Look at it and you'll see outline for puddle lights (at least mine has them)... But not sure if proper holders are inside the mirror.

Have you checked your door controller VAG part number? You got Min or Max variant?

Ohhh...okay. Door Controller VAG part no. Daffy question where do I find this?

The easiest way to find someone with VCDS, to read it out. Harder way is to read it from door controller physically.

Mine has puddle/boarding spots Part numbers are

Driver 5Q4 959 593 B

Pass   5Q4 959 592 B

in case you need one with them to compare  it to

593 and 592 are Max variants (& ok), 393 and 392 are Min variants, without pins for boarding spots.

Hi all. In that case, is there a person with VCDS in Edinburgh who maybe able to help me get this information?

  • 1 year later...

Any updates on this as to if the wiring is already installed?
