Out of curiosity I am trying to understand why there are 3 seat symbols on my maxi dot (bottom right) when I switch on and before my mileage pops up

 

I know there are 3 other seats (as I am sat on one) but what purpose do the symbols serve?

 

What is it alerting me to?

 

Cannot find any reference to it in manual etc.

That was my first thought so I connected seat belts and saw no change

 

I take it they must flash if driving and person is not belted up.

Perhaps someone needs to be sitting in the seat (i.e. is there a sensor to detect physical occupancy) before it actually sounds a chime etc?

Page 39 of the manual. They are the warning lights for the rear seat belts. Self checking mode. If someone is sitting in the seat and doesn't fasten the belt then it will alarm just as it does for the front seats.

i thought I read every page of the manual, both PDF and on the App.  Clearly I am brain dead from overload.

No I am sure that is not the case. The thing is hundreds of pages and then you have to start on the one for the infotainment; another shed load of pages!!!!

 

I am still learning after 11 months of ownership. That is one of the good things about this forum, we all help each other as we learn.

Had the same question myself, and found it on page 37 of my manual under 'Rear Seat Belt Warning Light'

As far as I understand, it doesn't chime until a fastened belt is unfastened.

My wife usually sits at the back to keep our baby company, and it only made a warning sound once, not insistingly.

Is rear passenger seatbelt warning on all Superbs or is it an option?   Does it also have the tiredness recognition feature? 

 

On my Leon both features were part of the 'passenger safety' pack.

Rear seat belt alert is standard... i think this is going to be a UK law thing in the future.

 

Tiredness recognition, with active land assist yes, without no,  - though think they maybe a setting if you enable TIPS, it will ask you to take a break after x number of hours / miles

That's great, thanks.  The seatbelt alert is useful with the kids in the back.  I never use the lane assist and the tired recognition system is a load of poo too. 

With 3 grandkids occupying the back seats the symbols always remind me of 3 monkeys
