Fading leather

Featured Replies

Has anyone had bother with their leather fading?

We've had our 2013 Elegance Estate for about 6 months and all the seats seem to have small areas where the black leather has faded to blue. It's the wife's car but I noticed this when I was using it yesterday, more visible when sun shining on it.

That's more likely to be staining than fading. I'd give it a good clean and conditioning and see what it's like. I've had good results with Autoglym leather cleaner and conditioner products.

+ 1 on those products.

+1 as well - over the years I've found their leather cleaner did a great job on black, grey and tan/ivory leather.

another +1, although modern leather seats do not require conditioning (down to the way they are now painted) so the conditioner will not actually soak in and therefore can attract the dirt causing premature wear,

Personally I have used Dr. Leather wipes and spray for the last 6 years with great results.

FWIW leather seats should have a satin finish.... if they are shiny then the shine is caused by dirt build up.
