Featured Replies

I've tried putting a 'san disk memory stick pro duo' in the memory card slot - I realized its the wrong type!!   What is the correct type for bolero radio? Hoping to get a cheap one from amazon.

See recent thread.

You need a SD card,  class 6 or below seem to be more reliable with the unit.

No!

The faster the better so Class 6 should be a minimum requirement and going higher will always be better. Any perceived problems in the quoted thread will be down to dodgy cards and not higher speed tech.

I'm afraid with, respect, I disagree. My experience of the Bolero is that it does not work well with higher class cards and it probably harks back to the time it was developed and the spec of cards that existed at the time. It may also depend on what software is running on the machine but without getting into that I am quite confident a class 4 card will run well with the Bolero as I use one.

I think the faster cards have been around since the FL arrived but you probably realise that the Bolero firmware was subsequently updated. I still think that any problems you've had would be sorted with a legitimate current SD card though.

In saying that, at least you have made others aware of potential problems. ;)

Does it matter what brand the card is? Can you please post a link from amazon of the exact type I need to buy?

This works perfectly in my 2010 (MY 2011) Yeti = LINK

Its a: "Kingston Mobility/Multi Kit - 32GB MicroSD Class 10, USB Reader, and microSD to SD adapter"

32GB - from well known UK supplier @ £7.99 inc free postage and VAT. Bought one recently and liked it so much that I bought another two and then two 64GBs. Postage was VERY quick. Tried both the 32 & the 64GB versions - No problems whatsoever in our bolero. Hope this helps.......Tony

I've a 32Gb Kingston Class 10 SDHC, and it's definitely faster to navigate than the Class 4 I had in previously.

As above. The internet is rife with fake memory cards, so make sure you go to a reputable supplier.

I've used mymemory before and would recommend them - http://www.mymemory.co.uk/SDHC

My 2013 Bolero does not like micro to standard SD adapters at all, give random card errors. buy the correct size for the slot.  A cheap Lexar 32GB from ebuyer has never given me any problems.

Not all SD card adaptors give the same results. We have several genuine Kingston cards with genuine Kingston adaptors, and I have no problems whatsoever with our Bolero or anything else. However, I have had problems when using Sandisk cards and adaptors.

I tried 3 different makes of micro SD adapters, minimise the risk and buy the right size card for the slot.

I've bought a 32GB/Kingston and I'm trying to get songs from my iPod to the card, I haven't got any songs in my itunes library or saved on my computer as I've always used a youtubetomp3 converter to convert the songs. All my songs are currently on 'my device' and it wont even let me drag and drop them....Any help please  :envy:

Older Boleros will only read fat32 file format, newer cards (class 10) come in exFAT format which it will not read by default. However it's easy to format using a tool like partition master (see Youtube for tutorials).

I have a 64gb class 10 in my 2009 Octavia and it's fine.

Think you've got an itunes / ipod question there. The "normal" ipod / iphone and itunes model is that the synch only works one way from computer to device (ipod). So without the original tunes on the computer in an itunes library it's not possible without some jailbreak method as I understand things.  I'm not sure what youtubetomp3 is but it sounds like a file converter.

Have you "deleted" your original library? Or where are the source mp3s that have been converted now (apart from the ipod itself)?

After some time playing around with it I managed to get the songs on to the card and it works in my car aswell!!! Next step is how to organise them by artist/alphabetical order...

Spoke to soon!! I just found some CD albums that I must of saved to my laptop years ago - just tried putting them on my memory card and they are showing as MPEG-4 Audio!! AHHH  :envy: !!

You should be able to download a file converter to convert mp4=>mp3

Just to amend my comments in posts #2 and #4. I did have issues with a class 10 card, but after this thread, I went looking for it again and couldn't locate it, so bought a new 32gb Sandisk Extreme Pro Class 10 - 32GB and.... it works in my unit.

So the previous class 10 I had didn't work properly, but this one does. I seem to recall I tried a mates's class 10 as well.  My recollection is a bit fuzzy now, as I had a RCD510 in a Golf as well and it was the same.   Anyway, the class 10 is a little quicker to start playing than my class 6, so I stand corrected. A class 10 isn't a blanket no no but the Bolero does seem fussy with different makes of SDHC cards in general. The one I had would of been a name brand, so shouldn't have been crap quality - I don't buy no name generic stuff like that.

I have another problem now, although it seemed to exist with my old class 6 16gb card and I seem to have been ignoring it, but I will open a new thread for that.
