Ambient Light assist retrofit.

Featured Replies

The dealer said they couldn't see any menu to adjust the brightness of the footwell lights however, I assume there must be one and they just couldn't find it.

it's located in same menu with dashboard's, door's LED strips

and info about it you can read in B8_Superb_Columbus_InfotainmentSystem_Navigation not in B8_Superb_OwnersManual

Thanks, it certainly should be in the menu alright but dealers are not the most informed as we all well know so we'll see.  I couldn't access the menu when I went to see the car last week as the car had just come off the transporter.

That's mad when the spec changes so you don't know what you are getting, my Brother had similar problems with his MY 2016 Octavia VRS TSI, in a good way he paid for the Amundsen upgrade but it came free with the car so got a refund, but lost the CD Player as the Amundsen unit he got was the larger unit where the CD (if you had it) is moved to the glovebox and all be got was a blanking plate that looked like a CD Player and 2 SD Card slots one of which has to have the Sat Nav SD Card in it for the Sat Nav to work and the other can be used to play music. He didn't have an SD Card writer so asked Skoda how he was going to play his music, they said use the CD so he said what CD, it would seem that Skoda UK didn't know about the upgrade either! Skoda gave him an allowance to purchase a SD reader/writer and an SD Card so it all ended OK in the end. Thats the issue with being an early adopter of either a new model year or an upgraded model, you never know what you might get!

Yes, its a bit too hit and miss and the specs should have bedded down a bit more at this stage.  I know some of this is driven by supply issues at the factory and that in turn is probably based on a push for cost savings whereby failure to secure certain components at a competitive price means a switch to an alternative supplier last minute.  Frustrating for us as customers of course!  Anyway, I'm going to forget about it until the New Year and enjoy my MKII for the next couple of weeks, which is running really well by the way!  In fact, I'll miss it a bit when I change :)

Well I've had the new car since yesterday and it did come with the lights on the interior door handles.  Footwell lights can be adjusted as I had expected although I might consider the LED upgrade as the halogen just looks odd considering most of the other bulbs in the car are LED.  I'm happy enough with the interior lights actually.  Despite not having the little roof diodes from the MKII, there are far more lights around the cabin in the MKIII so its bright enough.

Oh Well, worth a shot. I've seen it done on a Beemer, and the LED strips just literally sit under the existing trim. Was hoping it might be something similar. I'll check out EKTA and see what I find.

Cheers guys.

@Farmerp2005 I was curious if you found out about the details (HW + SW) on the ambient lighting strips. I bought a Superb Style in India, and it does not have the Ambient lighting option ...

Che cosa ti perderai da tua Mk. II?
