Rear Diffuser on O3 - overkill or not ?

Featured Replies

To be honest I've never really put much thought into these

But saw saw O3's with diffusers and wondered why people were doing this ( sorry not had much background in bodywork tuning, sorry)

So the real question, do they make any difference, is there any point to them at all ?

Or is it mostly cosmetic on the Octavia specifically.

Perhaps we need a willing volunteer for laptimes a la "Top Gear" to see if the spend on this kind of stuff is actually worthwhile :D

I did wonder if the car was really low ( or well handling) enough to benefit, thanks, I doubt and like you said its more cosmetic.

Looks good though, definitely a different look from original which as you mention, bit bland

Very much doubt it makes any difference of a family hatch/estate car. Yes on a race car.

Mostly for looks.....I personally like it.

Ask yourself one question:

Do you want to have such elements on ~ 200hp car?

Negligible performance improvements on a car like this so yes probably overkill. I installed the milotec diffuser as the back of the O3 IMHO is a bit bland compared to the front.

I notice from the link that you did the APR turbo muffler delete - what differences have you noticed? Can you hear the spool or is it very subtle? I looked at this a while back but all the golf gti forums said they couldn't hear any difference. How does it sound to you? :nerd:

Hi Wakey. Yes I added the delete. Think there was some very subtle increase in spooling sound but certainly not enough for me to make a recommendation to people. Recording wouldn't pick it up. Likewise with the performance increase - you always tend to press a little harder after any install anyway. Easy to install/remove and I have no regrets
