I'm hoping they don't contest the liability but we all know what the insurance companies are like. It wouldn't surprise me if the third party insurer tried to argue that I was undertaking or something to push for 50/50.

It's in insurance companies interests to go knock for knock - both parties insurers don't need to offer an NCD after a 50/50 claim.

It's ker-ching time.

I've looked at that in my contract too, iirc without protectors no claims, the first two claims per year knock two years off the no claims bonus.

At the end of the day if you aren't happy with the quality of the repair, dont accept it and they'll have to correct it.

Its also usually guaranteed for 5 years for defects, rust etc.

What I would think they will do is, fit 2 new doors, pull the worst of the damage out of the rear quarter, fill it a little bit and spray the whole side of the car to match the existing shade of race blue.

It's been a month and my car has been repaired. I had to wait for the third party to accept liability before I could get a hire car, which they eventually did.

I was given a Superb Estate 150bhp 1.5L? with the 7 speed dsg. It's not a bad car but a little less powerful than I'd like and the gearbox different to the 6-speed DSG in the vrs. I didn't feel as directly connected to my throttle input when pulling away or accelerating hard.

Anyway, my car is back, two doors replaced and I can't tell that the rear arch was damaged in the first place.

They've even touched up the stone chips on the bonnet, machine polished the whole car, given the alloys a good clean/polish and the interior is spotless - brilliant.

So barring the doors falling off I'm very happy with the job and the bodyshop kept me updated throughout :)

Good news.

Brilliant news!  Good ending to this story, always nice to see :-)
