code help

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a friend that has the following error just wondered if anyone knows what caused it?

Its 16705 and it said something about the Engine speed sensor and

implausable signal intermmitant. My mate said the car would not go any quicker than about 25mph regardless of the revs, also the power steering went very heavy.

Should she be worried? Since then it's been fine though.

Any help would be useful to her

Ta

What car, year and engine?

Autodata CD2 decodes 16705 as:

Fault location:

Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor/engine speed (RPM) sensor - range performance problem

Probable cause:

Air gap, metal particles, insecure sensor/rotor, wiring, CKP/RPM sensor.

opps I knew I forget something

Seat Ibiza 2002 1.2

I know it's not a skoda but I though someone might have an idea

Sorry. Autodata CD2 doesn't have any specific P1 (ie VW) codes for that model.

Cheers denis  , it was worth a shot in the dark.

I'll advice her to go see a dealer about it
