Prykey's Triumph Sprint GT SE

Featured Replies

Well unfortunately the alarm unit didn't arrive so I couldn't take delivery on Saturday so to try and mitigate the disappointment I went out and purchased a new helmet and intercomm system to install in it, the main driver for this was the HJC SyMax 3 that I  used on my recent trip to Austria proved to be extremely noisy (even using ear plugs) making hearing the instructions from my Garmin Zumo 390LM barely audible at 70 mph even when the Interphone F3MC was on full volume :(

So after much searching and researching I bit the bullet and visited my local branch of Infinity Motorcycles and purchased a Shoei GT Air (Matt Black) and a Sena 10U Bluetooth  Communication system designed to specifically fit into the Shoei GT Air, the Sena installation video on YouTube (https://youtu.be/0C7iL07XCGU) shows how simple the communication system is to fit and how neat it is.

I'll let you know if its that easy in practice when the Sena 10U arrives next week.

As for the Sprint it will probably be the beginning of next month now as I've other things planned for this coming weekend and I'm out drinking 2 nights next week and at Warr's for the launch of the 2017 models as well so until the big day I'll have to make do with these : -

  • Well the integration of the Sena 10U Bluetooth  Communication System with the Shoei GT Air Helmet went well with no major issues or heart stopping moments, I've paired it with my current Garmin Zumo 3

  • how have you been testing it? Running around the garden? :D.

  • Thank you, I will have a read of this.

Gutted it was delayed Prykey. Hopefully you'll find time sooner rather than later eh. Looks the business in that colour though! Certainly the colour to go for!

You should be fine with the GT Air. Im sure thats the model ive got! Its been spot on for the last year or so.

Fingers crossed you're just as happy!

My brother has the Sena 10u and he managed to install and get it set up no problems. If he has managed the average ape shouldn't have any problems :)

Only problems with it are the volume controls are inside the visor so you have to raise it just to increase the volume (should be on the remote) and you can't remove the battery to charge it but on the bonus side there is next to nothing outside the helmet. The phone app like my Scala one is great for getting all the settings into the headset.  The VOX is very sensitive so you won't need it set it high unless you ride in a wind tunnel.

Sounds positive for both the helmet and the communication system thanks guys,

I'll keep you posted on them and the bike :)

PS Infinity just rang to say that the Sena has arrived with them, so I'll probably pick that up later today :)

I've also set up 10 FM Radio Pre-Sets and tested it all and its all good :)

Ah ha, a proper bike, none of this 'Mercan heavy metal......

Back in my day, British bikes ruled, don't times change.

Have fun & behave badly, DC.

Well the Sprint was picked up as can be seen below and everything was as it should be.

However unfortunately after about half an hour (approx 13 miles) in Ongar, Essex changing gear starts becoming difficult and there is a lot of free play at the clutch lever so contacts the dealer and under advice from the service team adjusts the cable at the clutch lever end to try and remove the excess free play to get the bike back to them. This nearly gets me back to them at least I get back to Romford and it won't go any further so had to be recovered :(

It's in the workshop waiting for an autopsy, they believe that something has broken on the actual clutch mechanism but will not be sure until the cover is taken off.

Hopefully the delays with the alarm weren't someone or something trying to warn me.

The dealer had never had anything like it happen before and I think that they were impressed that I wasn't hanging from the ceiling by my finger nails biting peoples heads off.

On a positive note, I'm really pleased with how quiet the Shoei GT Air Helmet is but didn't get a chance to really try the Sena 10U Bluetooth Communications Kit, so that will be for another day.

Fortunately I'm away at the weekend and will have ample opportunity to hit the bottle to console myself ;)

Absolutely gutted for you. Hopefully that will be the end of the problems.

Thank you, I'm keeping everything crossed that's the case.

The bike looks absolutely brill.. shame theres somebody stood behind it cramping its style, but the bike looks good :D

Gutted to read the following paragraphs though. Proper gutting and i bet you couldn't believe it! Hopefully its just something like the cable being dodgey, if taking out some free-play did improve things atleast for a short while.

Fingers crossed its soon fixed and you can get riding it again soon!

Sounds like you were polite about it.. i hope you were stern enough to let em know you arent pleased though mate! Don't want em thinking they can take their time or its all acceptable.

I did explain that I wasn't very happy as you can imagine, however it doesn't help making a scene as they were obviously mortified that it had happened and after all said and done they obviously didn't set out to sell me something that was going to breakdown.

I've purchased numerous new cars and motorcycles and have only had breakdowns on collection with 2, the first was resolved quickly with additional warranty and a number of free services and I'm sure the current problem will be resolved quickly to.

oh no making a scene gets ya nowhere does it :D. Everybody just turns off.

Fingers crossed its quick and easy anyway.

Is that screen standard by the way?

  • Author

Yes, I've got everything crossed, I should hear by the weekend what the problem is and what rectification work is required that's if I don't hear tomorrow

The screen is standard on the GT SE version.

As Oli said the bike look great, nice colour, lots of touring gear. Really nice. Shame about the passer by that spoilt the shot.

Absolutely gutted to hear about the breakdown. Really spoils the experience. Good for you keeping your cool, they'll hopefully properly look after you with a free first service or something.

Let us know when you get it back and get yourself in the picture next time lol

  • Author

I'll post up some more pictures when I get it back and have a proper ride on it ;)

Yes its a shame about that passer by ruining the photo, I have to say that the best hand over was this one :) : -
