VRS 230 menu items missing

Featured Replies

I have a brand new VRS230 delivered last Friday and I have noticed that two things are presumably missing in the Infotainment/MaxiDOT.

I do not seem able to find the ambient lighting controls in the car config on the Amundsen. The LED's are installed, they work (white light) but the setup screen is not there.

The MaxiDOT also does not have the Lap Timer. I could not care less for this nonsense, it just shows that something is amiss. (Yes, I know you can select which pages you want to see on the MaxiDOT, I went there and the LapTimer is not there.)

Does anybody have the same or similar experience - items missing in the config which are actually physically installed on the car? Is it a quick fix or a bother?

Thanks a lot.

It is combined with "Instrument panel lighting" - if you lower the instrument panel lights, it also lowers the LEDs.

As for the Lap timer, it was also missing from my VRS (although not a 230) - easy to enable with VCDS or OBDeleven.

Does that mean that the screen indicated on page 73 in the manual:

no longer exists? It would seem that you could fiddle with the colour and intensity - even independently...

I have a Bolero, so I don't know if the Amundsen is different, but I can say one thing...

My car was in a VERY long service lately, and when it came back, I noticed that the ambient light was much brighter AND, for the first time since having the car, the door handle leds seemed to be active.

I also went in to change the ambient light settings and I could SWEAR there was previously a separate setting for it - I am pretty sure they updated the software while the car was there and probably this was a side effect.

I could adjust mine as I told you, but I am also 90% sure that there used to be a specific setting, although at least in my case it only allowed to regulate the intensity and nothing with color.

I can make a video later of what my menu looks like, but it would be nice if others can chime in and see if that menu has ever been there and now vanished.

E-mailed the dealer, will report what they say.

I can't say that the feature is terribly important but being a geek I hate things not working even if I don't need them :)

So... is there anybody who actually HAS that screen from the manual in their ICE?

I think I'm right in saying that the ICE manual now covers all models, *car* models that is, as well as ICE models. I think the multi coloured jazzy ambient lighting only exists in Superbs? But in answer to your question, my MY16 vRS 230 does not have that screen....

I see. That's indeed possible. Pity. I fancied that screen ;)

My colleague has it in her Golf GTE ...but do we really need all this? As much of a geek as I am and appreciate the ability to personalize the car, you only can really see it at night and by then the idea is NOT to have so much light inside of the cabin because it affects your night vision.

My Saab even had a "Night panel" switch that basically turned off all the lights in the interior and only left the bare minimum lit.

Oh, we absolutely don't need it. I just thought the hardware was fitted in my car but the config panel was missing - which triggers any geek's OCD, right? Since I have been told my hardware is a dumbed-down non configurable version, I am happy again :)

Here you can see the light bars for the Superb:

The Octavia only has two small white leds near the rearview mirror and two white leds in the door handles.

And here the mk7 Golf:

Well... I guess somewhere they have to justify the price differences ;)

I agree - far too much interior light, and a pain having to go through the screens to reduce it, instead of a small dial on the dash.

And yes about  the Saab too - I miss the night panel function too - used it all the time on my 9-5. Amazing the difference it made.
