New car to us!

Hi looks like you are pleased with your car . can you tell me what the engine is like , what does it pull like . Is it noisy as I have read. I have a 1.6 tdi fabia so am wondering how it compares to that , thanks.

We like the engine. Its the 105 so has enough power though its obviously not a match for our 170 Superb. Its not silky smooth quiet no, being a 3 cylinder. I assume the 1.6 is the same as in a Golf and if so its quieter. On the other hand it's not loud enough to bother us at all, in fact its probably quieter than the 1.2 petrol we had in the old one. The extra power means you don't have to wok it so hard, and maybe that's why.

Great. I'll give it a whirl.

Mmm. No luck. At first I thought you meant long coding, but then I realised you are talking about adaption. Trouble is I don't get numbered adaption channels just a big list that all start with IDE.

I'll pay a visit to the VCDS site

Oh, I'd think that the latest Fabia will have the same controllers now as the 6R 6C Polo!

"Edit:- this is what you need to do in this order > select "09-Central Elect" once that screen has opened > select "Security Access-16" > enter 31347 in the empty code field > select "Do It" > now select "Adaption" then the options that you want to change etc etc ."

Does the above help, I had a look at what I posted a long time ago and it reminded me that you need to log into security for the BCM so that you can change things.

The copy of VCDS that you are using, is it the latest, roughly, version as that should help you with things like security logging in etc, as well as the long coding helper.

Updated VCDS this morning right before trying. I was trying to add it to the infotainment first but The list was not what I expected. I'll try coding the BCM to at least switch the feature on, and worry about adding it to the menu later.

The adaption channels look much different to what you describe. I've taken a log and this is what I find regarding locking.

ENG122227-ENG117561-Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_central_locking activated

ENG122227-ENG117565-Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_central_locking_after_disclaimer not activated

ENG122227-ENG117562-Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_central_locking_clamp_15_off not activated

ENG122227-ENG117563-Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_central_locking_over_threshold_high activated

ENG122227-ENG117564-Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_central_locking_standstill not activated

I'm nervous of playing since it doesn't tie up with anything I've seen before.

I'll see if anyones seen this in the VCDS section

Oh, that does not look very DIYer friendly!

Well just looked at BCM (unit 09) and the adaption channels again have a big list and no numbering. I'm wondering if its a thing with the latest release of VCDS. Anyway in the text I found the two channels. Auto unlocking was already enabled so I enabled auto locking with speed and it does what I want. I'll sort the display in the menu later, and take a log of the channels to show what I needed to do.

Did you notice that VCDS now takes a serious amount of time to get through the engine controller? Also, did it crash and recover at all?

I've noticed that auto scan wouldn't work, said it wasn't supported. So I didn't even try to do anything else with the engine only looked at BCM (09) and infotainment (5F).
