jump starting

Featured Replies

hi all ive just had to jump started my car for the first time due to me leaving the radio on from yesterday afternoon whilst cleaning the windows   :( anyway I looked in the manual and noted that I have start stop my 64 plate mk2 and did what it said in the book by connecting the negative to the stump of metal like instructed all good boom straight away it started happy days i thought anyway I've noticed now that when I lock the car with the remote twice it folds in the wing mirrors well I did BUT NOT NO MORE!! :( and when I hold the unlock button only the drivers and rear N/S window opens :( ..what have I done guys to my pride and joy the thing is the mirrors still fold if I turn the knob from the inside of the car the car is still under warranty but have I done something terrible that they will say sorry you its your own fault.my stop start has been intermitted lately so whilst I went out on the a little run today I didn't have much opportunity to stop at lights and the car didn't do stop/start when I did stop have i made a massive problem for myself now ? your knowledge will be very much appreciated guys.thanks

You need to reset the windows. I think you have to open them, then close them but hold the switch up for a few seconds.

Your stop start will be intermittent because your battery will probably have taken some damage by being flattened or it is not yet up to full charge yet

how do I do the windows by manually opening them with the buttons then close with the buttons  or close by the remote control ? any thoughts on my wing mirrors as why they don't fold in from of the remote thanks

If the BCM loses power for long enough a bunch of settings for stuff like windows and mirrors get lost and have to be reset. The procedure for sorting it out should be in the owner's manual.

To reset the windows...

Get in the car, close all the doors. Ignition on. Lower each window one at a time using the buttons on the drivers door. Put the windows back up by holding the button up, when the window closes keep the button held up and hold it there for 5 seconds. Repeat this for every window.

This procedure also resets the folding mirrors.

Thank you so much I did what you said to do and now my wing mirrors are working fine I haven't tried the windows yet to see if they all open via the remote control as it was pouring down this morning. Once again thank you
