DSGDrive Failure

Featured Replies

Drive failed on motorway coming home a couple of nights ago. Fortunately was able to coast onto exit slip road and was recovered without incident.

Problem diagnosed by local garage as badly corroded pin on gearbox sensor unit. Is this a known fault with this gearbox? The car is a 2011 Roomster 1.2 DSG with 29,000 miles on the clock.

Would appreciate your comments. Many thanks

Sorry to hear that.

The issues are well know,  World Wide there was a RECALL & then a Warranty Extension, this did not include Europe which seemingly is not in the World.

So look to Skoda UK for repairs and paid for by them due to Fundamental Design, Manufacturing, Materials & Quality Control Issues

and the choice of Fluids causing internal corrosion not only in certain climates but the climates in Europe.

So has the DSG had the Service Campaign work from that started by Skoda UK May 2014?

Synthetic Oil from the Factory build changed to Mineral Oil & the Software Update.

Done free if needed.

There are threads in the Fabia Mk2, Octavia MK2, Yeti & Superb Sections and pinned in General Chat.

A Letter should have gone to the Registered Keeper in 2014 from VW / Skoda UK, or the person putting a car into a main dealership should have been informed.

This was what happened in New Zealand. a proper Service Campaign.

There was also a World Wide Recall excluding the UK / Europe that got the service campaign.
