Dashboard resonance

Featured Replies

I know some members have had an issue with a resonance in the central area of their dash. Usually fairly low rev range when the car is cold. I can't find the posts, but has anyone actually had this issue fixed by Skoda? I'm getting pretty hacked of with it.

Also noticed (probably listening for problems now!) a slight rattle from the engine. Bit like diesel chatter of old but seems to be left hand side of the car. Doesn't seem to be there revving when static, only driving. Anyone else had this (190 engine)?

Cheers

Mine is apparently the heater that is resonating, it took two visits for them to find it and I am currently waiting for it to be fitted (along with the chrome strips / rubbers above the drivers side doors)

Will not know for another couple of weeks if this cures the resonation but I am hoping it does.

Let me know how you get on Gizmo. I'm taking my Dad in to our local dealer to pick up his (new to him) Rapid Tsi so I'll speak to them about my issues.

Mine is going in for various issues and niggles this Thursday and Friday, one of which is an irritating buzzing noise from the middle of the dash. I'll update when I get the car back.

I hear a rattle, when cold, coming from either the central console or somewhere in front of me under the dash.  It disappears when the engine is warm though. Mines a 150 TDI.

I'll have a listen for for the other one.

Hi, I have a similar problem, a sort of low pitch boom/resonance when around 1200 rpm in 2nd & 3rd gears, perfectly quiet other than that, was this your problem and did it get fixed? Thanks

Yes this cured mine.

Yes, mine was driving me nuts and I booked it into dealer 6 months ago. They told me that they removed the dash and rerouted heater pipes. The buzz has never reappeared.

Good luck with yours - hopefully same cause.

Hi, just want to know if you got your issue fixed. I have the exact same symptoms as you describe at around 1200rpm in first and second gears. If i listen really closely, i can hear a very faint 'click' prior to 1200rpm also.

Hi, just after Xmas my car went in garage for a week and they gave me a similar car to mine as a courtesy car and this was similar. They said they could find nothing wrong with mine and it seems to have died down a bit now so am wondering whether it was linked to it bring new or whether I have just got used to it.

Thanks for your detailed response freedom. Hopefully it's a matter of wearing in...
