Apart from the fact that it's far from a drop in job' date=' why bother replacing a strong T16 2.0 with a weak HG eating complicated K-Series VVC?

If you wanted a replacement motor, a T16 2.0T would be the way to go. Strong enough for 250bhp on standard internals, and cheaper to fix if it breaks than any K.[/quote']

I did think that myself, I've read abit about it and it's a bit of a job to do! I'll see how much damage the head has got and then take it from there

Yes, the K swap is a BIG job. Different subframe, radiator, wiring loom, ecu, driveshafts, engine mounts, steering rack, slightly softer suspension, alternator, gearbox, gear linkage and a few other bits IIRC.

Sounds like a job for Jason ;)

Well I picked it up.

Good news is it's not the head, the chap in question even said he had not bothered to find out what it was. It would appear the water pump has gone.

Was ever hopeful that it would start but is didn't so I have to tow it all the way home (blasted tow rope snapped! grrrr)

Cant get it started at the moment as the battery is dead (wont hold a charge)

Looks like I will have some fun nights gettin it working lol.
