Facelift Yeti in 2017?

Featured Replies

I wandered into a Skoda dealership to touch and feel and was told by a sales person that there'd be a "new" Yeti in January. First I'd heard. He also mentioned the Kodak (I dunno how to spell it...) so wasn't confusing it with that. But he also said said there would be an "SUV Fabia".

I'm not convinced, what do the experts know?

A more reliable source told me the Octavia would be facelifted in the new year.

A new Yeti in under consideration, but I wouldn't want to order a factory build only to find it out of date the day it arrives!

PS.

Conversation I had a couple of months back was similar - one sales guy said there was a new Yeti for next year based on style to a smaller Kodiak, spoke to his manager who had seen it and was definitely a 2018 model and not 2017. Just about to take delivery of the current Yeti as I like the style as most current SUV's seem to be much of a muchness style wise.

Welcome to the forum.

What Dealership Group does this salesperson with inside knowledge work in?

Arnold Clark, Henrys, Ingrams or Parks of Hamilton.

Guessing Arnold Clarks, but maybe i am as far off the mark as they are.

According to all the motoring press the new Yeti is due to be unveiled to public late 2017 with first deliveries first/second quarter 2018. It is likely to be very similar structure - size etc, - to the new Seat Ateca but with a visual similarity to the new 7 seat Kodiak.

Also of interest is a supposed new SUV based on the Fabia which is likely to be somewhat bigger than the Fabia hatchback, in fact, it seems it will most likely be more akin in size to the existing Yeti! It seems Skoda are concerned that by taking the new Yeti up in size there will be a hole in their market offering which they need to fill, hence the Fabia + based SUV.

My 5 year old Yeti is coming up for replacement and after trying much of the opposition I have come to the conclusion that I will have to get a new 'existing' Yeti in 2017 before the new Yeti is launched. Opposition is either bigger than I need - Ateca, Quashqai etc - or much smaller inside than my Yeti - 2008, Juke (horrible), Captur, Suzuki's etc.

Hoping I might get a good deal on run-out models of the Yeti.

I think it's fair to say that as the Yeti was early to market in crossover terms it does fall between two stools size wise (which is no bad thing). So it's clear there is room in the range for 3 cars and the new Fabia SUV will possibly be the natural replacement for many Yeti owners if the new Yeti is significantly bigger. As for the Kodiak, I wish people would stop calling it a '7 seater' - it's available with 7 seats, which are an optional extra in all but the top of the range cars. I suspect the majority of cars will have 5 seats. It will be interesting to see how big it is though.

Auto Express always full of insider information and speculation (images & imaginations / leaked straight from Skoda / VW) and maybe even the source of Dealership Employees knowledge.

(see comments below articles, articles can be years old and revised and refreshed as needed, just like many VW Group vehicles as they need a news story not about Emission Cheats or Recalls etc.)
