OBD11

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

Really didn't know which section to post this in - so Mods please move to appropriate position.

My OBD11 dongle (pro version) arrived last week, but my car has been in for warranty repair for the last week, so I've been unable to register/login yet.

Can anybody tell me if I can install the program & register/login without the dongle connected to the car & powered on/paired?
Or does this need to happen at the same time?

Main reason for asking - I'd love to be earning free credits even though I'm unable to use them yet.... because as soon as I get the car back, I'm planning on using up some credits with a few programming tweaks through apps.

(I haven't managed to steal my partners android device yet, to check this for myself.... but I also don't want to try it if it's going to mess up my registration at all, and cause issues when I finally do get to plug it into the car)

You can register your account at any time through the app then upgrade your account to pro by typing in the code on the packaging. None of this requires you to have the dongle plugged in as it's all based on your account details.

I've yet to use any credits as the instructions in the VDCS mods page are excellent and generally translate quite well to the OBD11 app interface :) Failing that, the OBD11 web page will have similar instructions for your chosen mods.

Thanks xdq.

I'm a bit wary on doing programming manually, even though I'm sure there's countless pages out there with clear instructions....especially since the car is only 2 weeks old, and I don't want to mess with any warranty considerations.

I really only want to enable the live traffic and windows-close-on-rain settings, in terms of actual programming.... but would prefer to use the one-touch programming apps for these purposes.

Just wondering if I can still "earn" the free credits by clicking advertisements, or even just day-by-day freebies, before I even plug the dongle in and register/pair it properly.

Will definitely steal the other-half's android pad today and install the app and see how it goes.  Just didn't want to try doing it without the dongle paired/running, in case it messed things up.

Have a read up on the rain closing. It's not something I've tried but I recall seeing issues with enabling it on newer cars due to a different rain/light/humidity sensor compared to slightly older cars.
