Best SD Card Specification

Featured Replies

Does the SD reader really support SDXC cards? Considering Sandisk Ultra 64GB were €20 last time I looked, they're almost a no-brainer...

i'm using a 256GB SDXC card in the SD1 slot of my Amundsen.

A lot of built-in SD card readers are based on the USB interface so this may be the bottleneck.

I'd recommend searching for reviews of different cards because there are differences between Class 10 and Class 10. Class 10 only indicates minimum write speed of 10 MB/s. This doesn't say anything about reading speed and although it is usually higher than write speed, how much higher, depends on the model. How long it takes to initialize the card and load all the data is determined by read speed. Unfortunately Škoda doesn't indicate any tech specs or upper speed limit of the headunit but you'd always be better off with a card with a higher speed anyway.

Not particularly worried about speed to load up the SD card, which was 797kbps on my PC (copy and paste).

The time for files to appear on the Bolero screen is less than 1 second at present with 6Gb. Visibly slower than when I'd just 4Mb. But fast enough for me.

Just checked my VW music card & I use a SanDisk Extreme SDHC 1, 32GB, UHS 3 speed, Class 10, 60MB/s

Handbook for the Discover sat nav (not the top end Pro) states max of SDHC 32GB in FAT12, 16, 32, or SDXC 2TB in exFAT, NTFS.
