All Season Tyres - Vredestein Q5's

Featured Replies

Getting to that time of the year again and I'm looking at putting SWMBO's Fab on All seasons (only bought earlier this year) - problem is availability in 205/45 R16. The Premiums don't do them (Michelin, Goodyear, etc). I've just seen a couple of threads saying the Maxxis AP2 is a good tyre, but i've always shyed away from 'budget' brands - firmly believing you get what you pay for and prefering to stick to names that i know.

On her old Polo we were running Vredestein Quatrac 3's, which we pretty good and i've seen they do the Quatrac 5 in this size, but that they're only rated as 'H' for speed. My tyre guy suggested speaking to the insurnace to make sure there aren't any issues with them running a lower rated tyre and they said no problems.

She's no rally driver (although i like to poke it a bit when i drive it :D) just wondering if anyone was running these and what their opinions were.

Cheers!

could you go to a 205/50?  may not make that much difference and they do a V rating in it...

I'm on Maxxis all-seasons at the moment and they're just fine. Yesterday I bought a set of Michelin Crossclimate on a Costco deal. They're really for another car but I don’t plan to fit them till the Spring and the Costco deal was good. If I sell the other car there's room on my Fabia even if they're a touch bigger. If they made them in a Fabia size I would fit without hesitation but in all fairness I haven't been disappointed by the Maxxis all-seasons yet.

H rating in up to 130mph - is your Polo chipped! - [EDIT] - it's for your 1.6 CR 105 Fabia, should be fine  :notme:

I ran Quatrac 5's on my previous Superb I (205/55/16). I liked them and found them very surefooted and surprisingly quiet. Looked as though they were going to be good re wear but I sold the car before I wore them out!

we have maxxis AP2's on the Abarth, very impressed so far , as good in the dry in the summer as the pirellis it came with, better in the wet, great in the winter last year, worked as well as other (proper) winter tyres I have have, I would recomend them :)
