Help! 2009 Octavia Elegance - Dead display, can't start!

Featured Replies

Hi guys, it's a long shot but thought I'd try my luck and see if anyone can help me out.

2 days a go I tried to locate a fuse or circuit that may be draining my battery as I've just installed a new one a month a go and it's already showing battery low after a few days sitting in the garage.

First I unplugged and plugged back in each fuse which are under the good and I also disconnected the battery....which I tested with a multimeter and it shows 12V.

After all this I tried starting the car and it was than I noticed that all of the dash was dead and nothing happens when I turn the key, everything is dead bar the radio which I had to put the radio code in.....it's strange cause I've now testing the continuity on each fuse I unplugged earlier and they seem ok, and since the radio works and also hazard lights, door lights than the battery is connected ok.....but absolutely dead on the main dash and not even fans work so hopefully someone can help.

Did you check the fuses in the battery compartment?

Looking at the wiring diagram it may be that fuse 38 in the battery compartment has blown (150A). If so, likely cause is a short to ground of the cable going to the alternator. Just a thought and I may be wrong as I am only looking at a diagram.

Without wanting to sound like a ****, if the faults only occured since you took fuses out, its likely you've put one back in, in the wrong slot.
