Sunday Times Fabia Rs Review.

Featured Replies

In the motoring section. A bit so-so but it's there! I'm sure there will be a link to it on the Sunday Times site somewhere.

Might buy the times this morning to see what their monthly dvd (cd?) thing is like, so could look at scanning some of their fab review if there's no link on their website... :)

Rather more serious than this is the fact that it

Also, here's me thinking 'It's a bit quiet'. Did anyone else miss their extra hour in bed today because they're a bit dim? :(

Nope - but I am wishing there had been more than just one extra hour! :)

I missed it because I got totally rat-ar5ed last night. Woke up in a stupor this morning and have only just realised I need to put all the clocks back an hour... Actually it was when I flicked on the PC and it did it's auto clock adjust for BST...

The acticle's exhaustive, and rather pointless, list of all the other cars that the PD 130 engine is found in, missed the Octavia.

"The area you wish to access is behind registration."

Anybody got login/pass for the article? :p

I thought the Fabia vRS had a PD engine and not an aged diesel (or whatever words were used instead)?

Well that engine has been used in various VAG cars for quite a while now.

The review actually seemed pretty fair to me and seems to agree with posts on here about the handling not being the car's finest opint when pushed.

So the PD is an aged diesel, even though Skoda have only just started fitting it to their model range?

even if its aged or not still much better than many diesels on the road today

Don't think the handling thing is really a problem. I have found the extra nose weight the Diesel has in the Fabia to be a help, it gives the steering a bit more feel.

I thought it was a typical newspaper review. Most of the article was spent discussing other things about Skoda and then there was a tiny bit about the car itself.

And yes, I was thinking that it was actually quite quiet!! Girlfriend did aswell, and she was comparing it to her Leon TDi 90.

True, he didnt really slate the car but he must have just not "got it". His loss.

About the size of it Denis. Slightly harsh review mind you

I guess the journalist didn't like the "promotional package" Skoda provided. Not that I suspect all motoring reviews are heavily influenced by the quality of hotels and sandwiches provided by the manufacturers...

Rob.

The Lydon review in the Sunday Telegraph was much the same.

All journos think they are Clarkson clones and have to be wordy and witty (or should that be shirty and ****ty?). The real truth is that, with a few exceptions most cars are good, like beer some are better than others, so the journos have to justify their corn by being corny.

Just a thought, superskib, news at 11 ivybridge in sunny devon

I think it's a bit harsh too. For example "Not cheap to run because of group 9a insurance".

Now how many "hot hatches" are group 9 ?!? How many return more than 50mpg ?!? Not a single one I think (apart from maybe the ibiza 130 sport, but then, it's not targeted really as a "hot hatch". They may mean it's expensive for what it is, but as a "hot hatch", I certainly think it's the cheapest one to run on the market.

Also, their comment on a "5 door family car" I think is pretty good, although a little cynnical in its phrasing. I agree - it's not a super boiling-hot-hatch, but then it can cruise quietly and stably at 90mph on long test tracks, so it's a good compromise.

Ahh I feel better now :)
