Axle stands

Featured Replies

I'm going to be putting my winter wheels on my new VRS soon, which will be the first time I've seen under the car.

I do have a Skoda jack but would far rather use a trolley jack and axle stands. I was therefore wondering if anyone has found good places to put axle stands on the Octavia iii? I did a quick search but couldn't see any real answers, it looks like Skoda have gone the way of most manufacturers and made no provision for did work. I do not have the S3 jack pads so plan to put the trolley jack (and grooved hockey puck) on the standard jacking points on the seams.

Used that (puck'n'jaxk) with mine the other night to swap my wheels over.

Not had a problem so far.

As for the axle stand question, I'm not overly sure.

If your just swapping the wheels over do you really need axle stands? Could you not just do one corner at a time?

I've just used a hydraulic oïl jack to change the wheels since I've had the Octavia.

I didnt use the hockey puck, I was just careful when engaging the jack into the correct position & had no problems so far.

No idea about axle stand locations sorry.

I always like to use an axle stand as a backup to the jack, especially a hydraulic jack. You shouldn't need it, but there's always a risk of the jack failing. I know someone who had their jack fail while they had a wheel off, resulting in a damaged car and damaged driveway.
