Front Grill Replacment

Featured Replies

Evening All

I had a pheasant go through my grill tonight. Reading on here I was expecting to have to change the whole bumper. However I have found them available on eBay and ordered one.

Has anyone fitted a replacement? I assume I dont need to get my bumper resprayed? Can it be done without a major dismantle?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

I am now in a position to answer my own question!

The official line is that Skoda only sell the grill as part of a complete bumper. A bit of design that really isn't 'Simply Clever'! The company that I used on eBay takes existing damaged bumpers and heats the plastic welds that fix the unit to the bumper. It is reasonably straight forward to do off the car. On Monday I will be carefully cutting the broken grill out. They suggest a heat gun will help to listen the welds. The new grill then gets put back in and epoxyed at strategic points. I will update this on Monday after I have tried!

Any tips from people who have done this would be gratefully appreciated.

There is link on here somewhere for people who have fitted the super skoda honeycomb grille to VRS.

I'm sure 1 member on here has done this to fit the superskoda mesh grille.

Hopefully they will be along......

I've replaced the grill on my octy vRS its on a bad job to do there some bolts at the top of the grill and 6 at the bottom and 4 each side and there 2 each side by the headlights there the hard one to get out as you can't see or get to them very well there are two hole in the top of the grill you need to push down on the clips in the hole then the bumper is free undo wiring and washer pipe and its off.

Lie the bumper face down and you need to cut the plastic around the grill and pull it off I used sikafiex to stick my back on and then refitted the bumper.

Hope it helps you

My new unit has arrived. I will need to transfer the chrome trim across. Having seen how the tabs break I was going to do this when I have the old unit out. Having seen it I was wondering if there is any need to remove the bumper? If you wanted to remove the existing unit without damage then it would be essential. As mine is already smashed I wondered if I can just cut away the loose bits and grind off the plastic welds ready for the new unit? Any thoughts?
