After ordering it back in march before my car actually arrived the honeycomb grill from superskoda has finally arrived.

Only problem is the standard grill has grown on me now.

Go for it… nice to be different… and the pics on the website do look good!

There's a good post on here by xpower ( http://www.briskoda....removal-how-to/ ) which details how to remove the bumper which I understand needs to be done to change the grille and should make it a much simpler task.

What's the quality like out of interest?… I bought a replacement grille for my MKII facelift (not a honeycomb, just an all black version without the chrome frame and logo) from Superskoda which was supposedly, alike the grille you've purchased, made by the same injection moulding process as the OEM part, but which due to requiring about 2 days worth of solid work de-burring all the rough edges, sanding the rough finish, filling, priming and painting, I've never actually fitted!

Well looking at it closely i would say the quality is not a touch on oem quality..

cheers for the link, ill have a read, once ive got the oem one off hopefully i will work out how to swap them easily

here are a few pics, see what you think.

Mine never arrived as the idiots didn't send the right paperwork. If you decide to sell it please let me know.

Unlucky, they sent me a few free bits as they didn't update the order.

i will take off my bumper and have a look, will let you know if i do.

Doesn't look too bad… but as you say not OEM quality.

Plus point is that you only see the honeycomb part as rest of it is hidden behind the original grill frame (see you've got the black pack… smart move, especially with the Race Blue… looks kicking).

Not having all the trims on i can see the tatty bits, but im sure the oem is tatty underneath.

I do like the black pack, as i say the black grill has grown on me but as ive got the honeycomb i may as well.

Has yours arrived yet and what colour did you go for?

Candy White… (or that's what it should be when it arrives)… wife's choice and I'm ok with that (she moans like hell when I send her out to polish the MKII facelift which is black, so will make her life, and ultimately mine, much easier).

Was supposed to be here by now (dealers promise), but alike many others' cars it's been deferred to a MY2015 and dropped off the BW list for now. I'm assured I'll see it before August… but won't hold my breath!

Hopefully it'll be here before I die of old age and boredom… but at least I've got loads of time to build up the collection of add-on goodies in the meantime!

The honeycomb grill looks really nice. My FL Vrs has one on the lower front grill but I find the holes are too big and my air con condenser is pitted with stone strikes. I removed it and fitted fine metal mess to the inside to prevent and more stones hitting the condenser

seems to have done the job

Looks like a dodgy Chinese moulding, probably best to get it painted black before you fit it.

Good point re the honeycomb lower grille… and good thinking to put secondary mesh behind. Used to get a lot of that happening on my Q7 S-Line and that was a heck of a lot higher off the ground.

Another project to list for the new car...

The grill looks good to me.

My big concern is the grill is part of the bumper and putting in the mesh grill looks like cutting out the OEM one - a one way job.

Then what do you do if you don't like it or have problems?

Frame and grille unclip from behind the bumper (hence the reason for the need to remove it) from what I've read somewhere on this forum. No cutting required!

The grille ultrasonically weeded into the bumper.

Does look nice...

When my replacement got fitted I think they used window sealer to stick it down.. as it took 2 hours to dry,,

It's well glued in.. you would know its been replaced..

I haven't seen your car around yet...!!

No I live by the show ground on a private drive... so you won't see the car there..

day time on most days its parked on Lingfield Rd in  E.Grinstead..where I work...!!  I see the green vRS once a week..

Looks great, Skoda should take note and make it standard fitment.

Why did Skoda make Mk3 bumper and grille a 1 piece..!!!

Mk 2 wasn't..

Does the bonnet catch cause issues?

I suspect its a lot to do with pedestrian safety and EuroNCAP ratings. Modern cars effectively have plastic front ends that minimise damage to anybody unfortunate enough to be hit. Has other consequences such as not being able to change bulbs very easily!

Well the mkii's grille was in the bonnet, if they made it one piece you wouldn't be able to get it the engine.....

Have you decided to fit this yet?

I only ask as you've got me thinking it may look good on my white vRS :)

Hello,

I think about mounting this grill to my VRS TSI Estate Meteor Grey.

I got it yesterday and actually it is not OEM quality :(

Does it fit perfectly without any problems during installation? Are there problems with the fit to the other elements?

Best Regards :)
