What are peoples views on this particular car,i drove one to day and was really rather impressed i have to say:) .

Was preparing for it to be not very good i have to say but i came away very surprised.

Have any others of you driven one or owned one and if so how did you find them?

All constructive comments welcome.............

ST220 handling is excellent, the chasis is really superb and can outhandle most hot hatches on the big sweeping bends (no joke either).

The 3.0L V6 is smoother rather than outright power. If it's a brand new one your after the clutch has been made to feel lighter and the brakes are better. Anything 3 months older (different rear light style) and the brakes lack feel.

Th3 2.0 TDCi owned did 170 bhp on the rollers with 287 lb/ft of torque so they aren't that bad. I also retrofitted the ST220 seats that where extremely supportive. And the obligotary 50mm lowering springs with dampers :D

I test drove bot st220 and st tdci a couple of weeks ago when my company car was in for a service, liked them both but found the petrol had heavy fuel consumption and the tdci had a very small power band, for the price differnce between a 130bhp tdci zetec it wasn't that much faster

looks a lot nicer though

Diesel, everyone knows proper cars run on petrol!!!!! LOL

Yep.... ST220 or ST TDCI. I'll take the ST220 every time thanks.

I saw a review comparing both once, and they basically summed it up like this "the ST220 would be a car chosen with the heart, the TDCI a car chosen with the (sensible) head".

I dont get this diesel being "better in the real world" malarky any more either.

Pros: Well equipped, looks great and quite subtle, lovely torquey V6, great chassis, cheap to modify, well built, great 2nd hand buy, healthy discounts to be had on new ones, Haynes manual

Cons: "It's a Ford", thirsty, depreciates like a stone if bought new
