Threequarter Hour Traffic Queue And The Radio Did Not Work

Featured Replies

I sat in a traffic queue on the local bypass earlier.

Men in the road it said, but there were not any!

Anyway I pressed the button for the radio and

..... nothing not a crackle, not a flicker of light,

absolutely nothing. I left it on (or at least did not

press the button again) it was tuned to a strong

station from our last outing so I was hopeful.

After I got out of the queue and drove into the

highstreet the bloody thing came on! It is a very

good reception area (unless you are using DAB)

so what happened?

Something being broadcast nearby blocking the signal?
In a couple of places abroad parking near banks I have had to disable the immobiliser manually on my motorcycle as the remote fob was being swamped by a strong radio signal.

I have booked it in for the radio to be attended to.

We had a long drive and tried the radio, nothing

not a flicker, crackle, or any indication that it was

attempting to work.

No the radio was still tuned to Radio four as it was when we came back from Wareham,

it came on briefly when we turned off the bypass but by then we were at our destination

and it did not come on again. The dealer wants it in all day for diagnostics.

I have already checked fuses so my bet is that the connector block has dropped off,

I would normally have whipped the radio out to check but don't know how and it is under

warranty. We get good strong signals in my area (except d.a.b which is patchy)

Had something similar on my Bolero the other day. I went to put the radio on and it appeared dead. Kept pressing the on switch but nothing happened. In the end I switched on the heated seats to see if the display would power up and it did. Pressed on switch again and radio came on. Its been ok since. Curious.

Must prefer to play in a warm car

I, as a last resort, read the handbook and the radio cuts out to conserve volts

if the battery is low or you are using a lot of important stuff like wipers, lights,

starter etc. how this quite fits in I don't know (I did have the heated mirrors

turned on and the heated seats!) as I had just come back from a 250mile run.

Was the engine running when you were in the traffic jam?

This is a problem we have had since new . It has been back to dealer many times. They have checked the radio and say there is no problem with it The sat nav works OK

Yes it was a slow stop, start crawl. Lights on, heated seats, no heater blowing.

A really cold dark miserable day.

Incidently it has worked fine the last few days, since I booked it in. I had to cancel

the appointment at Skoda as my MIL passed away and I have a lot of running about to do.
